Deep Clean an Internal Slate Floor
Always follow instructions on the product labels, technical information and videos.
Always test products on a small area first.
Please contact us if you have any queries.
Note: Rinsing is key to cleaning stone properly. We always use wet vacuum cleaners (a machine that can suck up water) to remove cleaning solution and rinsing water. If the stone is at all a large area we suggest doing test areas by hand and then hiring a wet vacuum cleaner (any builders tool hire shop will have them). Call us if you need guidance.
For Cement and Grout Residues you can usually use Builderase because most slates are acid resistant. However, YOU MUST TEST A SMALL AREA FIRST. When the test area is dry check that it has not changed or lost any colour. Follow manufacturers instructions.
If a Polymer Modified Grout has left residues on the stone you may need to use two seperate cleaning products and operations. Builderase will remove the cement part of the grout. Use Builderase first and rinse. Then use Powerase at a dilution of 1:3 with clean water. Follow the manufacturers instructions which you will find on the product page of our site. This product will remove the polymer parts of the grout. It will require scrubbing with nylon pads or a stiff brush. Rinse and check results. Do small test areas first.
For Food Spillages, Grease and Oil Marks we use PAL4. Use it diluted from 1:3 up to 1:15 with water, depending upon the severity of the contamination. Rinse really well. Read instructions on our site and the container and call us if you need guidance. Do test areas first.
For General Dirt, Soiling and Foot Traffic Marks we use PAL4. Use it diluted between 1:6 and 1:20 depending upon the level of dirt. Read the instructions on our site and the container and call us if you need guidance. Do test areas first.
Paint is a challenge. For paint that does not come off with PAL4 (see above) you could try Wax Off. Use as per instructions on the can and Manufacturers Instructions our site. It is used undiluted and will need to be on the area for about 15 to 30 minutes. Do not allow th eproduct to dry out - add more if required. Agitate every few minutes with a white pad on softer or delicate surfaces or a black pad on resilient surfaces. Rinse very well. It is essential to do small test areas first. Call us for further assistance as required.
Plaster. Follow the instructions, above, for cement and grout residues. This is not an easy issue to deal with.
Oil Stains that cannot be removed with PAL4 (see above) can be treated with Twinspot. Follow the instructions on the container and on our site. It is used undiluted and applied in a layer over the stain approximately 2mm deep. Allow it to remain until it has dried and turned to a white powder. Remove this residue with a brish, vacuum cleaner or Lantaclean diluted 1:20 with water. Please call if you need guidance. Do small test areas first.
